SMILE - Special Memories In Lanarkshire Everyday

SMILE Children’s Charity was founded in February 2024. The charity was inspired by an incredible young boy Justin Meek who sadly passed away suddenly in 2014 whilst on a family holiday in Florida. His death inspired his parents Wendy and Stephen to set up SMILE Children’s Charity in his memory. Our vision is to open a tranquil respite facility in Lanarkshire where families with children with disabilities or serious illness can relax, have fun and spend quality time together making memories.

“We aim to offer support to our families through our vision by offering them the opportunity to have respite, relax, recharge, have fun and make memories at our rural retreat. We understand that sometimes the memories are all that are left and are priceless. We offer our families mindfulness sessions and alternative therapies to offer a time to relax, reflect and improve their mental health.”
Wendy Meek, CEO and Founder

With over 30 years experience in childcare and education, volunteering in the third sector and vitally personal experience of caring for children with disabilities and serious illness, Wendy is the driving force behind the charity.
